Andy Murray and Serena Williams will team up in mixed doubles later in the week at the All England Club, much to the excitement of the British public.
The pair have won a combined 27 singles Grand Slam titles – nine of which have come at Wimbledon – during their illustrious careers and they will join forces at a major for the first time.
It seemed something of a pipe dream when Williams name was first mentioned as a potential mixed doubles partner for the Brit – who will compete at a Slam for the first time since undergoing a hip resurfacing operation at the end of January – but it has become a reality, with the all-star British-American duo set to go for the title at SW19.
While Murray and Williams both publicly courted each other during the build-up to the tournament, Murray revealed it was Williams coach Patrick Mouratoglou – who told Metro.co.uk it would be a great move for them to team up – who first approached him about linking up.

Asked how long the partnership had been in the works, Murray replied: Only a couple of days really.

Beforehand I had been speaking to a couple of players about it but I cant remember what day it was I hit with Bob Bryan, Wed or Thurs over there. I chatted to him about the mixed and to one or two others about it then sort of debated whether or not to play.
Delgy [Murrays coach Jamie Delgado] had had a message from Patrick saying if I was fixed up for doubles, he said no, and then would it be of interest to play with Serena. We kind of chatted about it for a couple of days.
I know she had had a bit of problems with her knee this year and both sides kind of wanted to see how her match went before we did the final part. She felt fine yesterday and I saw her briefly today – she seems like she is up for it!
Williams was spotted engaging in a friendly chat with Murray earlier on Wednesday but the 32-year-old admitted they were struggling to find time to practise together.

I think well try to, we spoke a bit about that today, Murray added. Probably not tomorrow because we are both playing and Ill practice with Pierre tomorrow thRead More – Source
