Wetter the better as lightly raced Lost Command finds her feet again

There will be no place left for those without a hunger for rain-affected going by the time the last race lands at Monday's Albury meeting, but one local stable will be counting down to it.

Seven-year-old mare Lost Command has been sparingly raced in some strong company this preparation by trainer Ron Stubbs, yet the results have not quite come.

One to follow: Kayla Nisbet has a good book of rides at Albury today, including two for trainer David Blundell in the Tait-Nivison colours.

The daughter of Commands hasn't won since April 30, 2017, in a benchmark 64 at Geelong, although she was off the scene for more than a year not long after that before returning last July.

For a horse who has been placed in metropolitan company, it has taken a while for Lost Command to regain her best but, after resuming in a Country Championship qualifying heat back in February, her next two runs – a fast-finishing effort in a Canberra Federal and close-up second in the Queen Of The South at Wagga under 61kg in heavy ground – put the writing on the wall.

Yes, she disappointed in a stronger benchmark 70 at Bendigo last start but, in a real form boost, the second horse that day, Shrouded In Mist, scored a dominant win in a benchmark 84 at Sandown on Saturday.

Lost Command has a natural liking for wet tracks and looks one of the better weighted runners all day on 56kg.

Gundagai trainer David Blundell saddles up four-year-old gelding Monkery for the Tait-Nivison ownership duo in a class 1 handicap over 1400m desperate to snatch only a second win at his 18th start. The heavy track rating might be the key, and Canberra jockey Kayla Nisbet jumps aboard.

Monkery has closed off strongly in his last three runs in good 4 to soft 7 ground but the likely heavier rating is a further boost.Read More – Source
