Police arrested a man Wednesday who allegedly harassed a Republican campaign worker with racial slurs and threatened to assault him at an early voting station in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The police report stated that officers arrived on the scene in response to a call that a black campaign worker was being threatened by a white man, identified as Jason Donald Wayne, 28.
“The victim approached the suspect, at which time the suspect began directing racial slurs towards the victim. The victim stated that the suspect threatened to assault him before lifting his shirt and displaying a handgun which was in a holster on the suspects belt,” a press release stated.

The victim, identified as Derek Partee, claims three people approached him and called him a “black piece of shit,” according to a post he uploaded to Facebook.
Partee said he first saw Wayne in the parking lot of the early voting location when he noticed the man filming and taking pictures of the polling location, local CBS affiliate WBTV reported.
Although Wayne threatened and harassed Partee, he told police the man did not attempt to remove the gun, which ended up being a BB gun, from its holster.
Wayne is being charged with going armed to the terror of the people, ethnic intimidation, communicating threats and disorderly conduct, according to the report. (RELATED: New York Times Publishes Trump Assassination Fantasy)
Partee is a former police detective from Long Island, New York, the release stated.
Police said theyve identified two other individuals in relation to the incident, but the officers dont plan to press charges.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department plans to conduct scheduled zone checks at all polling locations through the elections on Nov. 6.
