Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian has informed Jose Mourinho that he wants to leave the club despite the growing injury crisis at right-back.
Darmian has struggled to force his way into Mourinhos first-team plans during his time at Old Trafford, though was expected to start the new campaign due to an injury picked up by Antonio Valencia.
United signed teenage full-back Diogo Dalot, but he is out until September with a knee injury, leaving Darmian as the last available option at right-back.

But the 28-year-old, who is being chased by both Inter Milan and Juventus, is still annoyed about starting just five times in the Premier League last season and wants more game time elsewhere.
Yes, thats what I want [to leave], Darmian told reporters. I will probably go to Italy. It is a difficult decision to leave.

Probed about Uniteds current injury problems at right-back, Darmian continued: I dont think the injury of Antonio is a big injury.
I dont know how long he needs to stay out, but at the moment Antonio is the captain, hes first choice.

I want to play more regularly. Last season I didnt play much – thats my objective and my ambition. Thats why I spoke with the manager and also with the club about my future.
Valencia left Uniteds tour of America due to the severity of the calf injury he picked up against San Jose Earthquakes and Mourinho suggested afterwards that he would not be able to rely on his ageing skipper as much next season.
