Marcos Alonso is facing a three-game ban for Chelsea after being charged with violent conduct by the Football Association for his stamp on Southampton forward Shane Long.
The left-back stood on Longs calf in the first half of Chelseas 3-2 win over Southampton at St Marys, but the incident was not punished by referee Mike Dean at the time.
Should Alonso be found guilty by the FAs independent three-man panel, he will miss Chelseas clash with Burnley on Thursday, the FA Cup semi-final against Southampton on Sunday, as well as the Premier League game away to Swansea City on April 28.
A statement from the FA read: Chelseas Marcos Alonso has been charged with violent conduct following an incident with Southamptons Shane Long.

It happened in the 43rd minute of Saturdays game [14/04/18] and was not seen by the match officials but caught on video.
He has until 6pm on Wednesday [18/04/18] to respond to the charge.
Off the ball incidents which are not seen at the time are referred by The FA to a panel of three former elite match officials.

Each panel member will review the video footage independently of one another to determine whether they consider it a sending-off offence.
