Andy Murray revealed he may try and make his singles return in time for the US Open after enjoying a triumphant comeback in doubles at Queens.
The former world No. 1 teamed up with marathon man Feliciano Lopez – who also won the singles – to win the Fever-Tree Championships, beating compatriot Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram in the final.
Arguably it was most important that Murray came through the week physically unscathed, having had a hip resurfacing operation at the end of January, and he gave a positive update on his health after the win.
I feel good just now, a little bit stiff this morning but felt pretty good, Murray told Amazon. As the week went on any sort of apprehension I had Id kind of lost that really.

I was running for balls not really thinking about my hip and throwing myself around the court. Even when I dived or fell on it, it didnt come loose or dislocate or anything bad like that and it felt fine.

Of course, the question on everybodys lips is when Murray will relaunch his singles career.
The three-time Grand Slam champion wont make it in time for Wimbledon, where he will play doubles instead alongside Pierre-Hugues Herbert, but he admitted he could potentially be back on court for the US Open – the final Grand Slam of the season.
I think I have two options really, play doubles through US Summer and practise singles with the guys, or take a slightly longer period after Wimbledon, he added.
I would probably need four weeks of practise and preparation, and then potentially play Cincinnati and US Open schedule.
If I go the doubles route I probably wouldnt play singles until after the US Open. I am just happy being on the court and being healthy, the difference of a couple of weeks or one tournament, its not that big a deal. It doesnt really matter to me too much now.
A more pressing issue is who will partner Murray, who was beaming in his post-match press conference, in mixed doubles at Wimbledon.

Ash Barty and Kristina Mladenovic have both turned the Brit down, while he shrugged off suggestions he would team up with Maria Sharapova, and he remains on the lookout for a female recruit.
