Defending champion Rob Cross and two-time titlist Adrian Lewis both turned in fine performances on Sunday evening at Alexandra Palace, booking their places in the fourth round with whitewash victories.

Cross averaged 101.7 in destroying Cristo Reyes, while Lewis ended on 97.4, barely giving Darius Labanauskas a sniff as both Englishmen picked up 4-0 wins.

The 2018 champion will now play either Dimitri van den Bergh or Luke Humphries in the last 16 as Lewis sets up a tasty tie with world number one Michael van Gerwen in the fourth round.

Also on Sunday night, surprise package Nathan Aspinall followed up his victory over Gerwyn Price by dumping Kyle Anderson out of the tournament thanks to a 4-1 win.

Lewis opened up the evening session and was not in the mood to give Labanauskas a chance, as Raymond van Barneveld had done in the previous round.

Jackpot won the first set without losing a leg, averaging over 100 and checking out at 50% to make it clear how the match was going to go.

He conceded just three legs over the next three sets, never looking in trouble and really impressing in the fourth and final set where he averaged over 105 to finish the game in style.

MVG will be favourite when they meet on Thursday evening, but Lewis on this form will be a serious threat.

World number 73 Aspinall played brilliant darts to stun the #27 seed Anderson in the second match of the evening.

The Asp pinched a scrappy first set but then banged in an average of 102 in the second to take a 2-0 lead.

Anderson was sensational in the third, averaging 112 to reduce his arears, but he couldnt keep that level of performance up, with his doubles and scoring failing him in the next set as Aspinall re-established his two-set lead.

The fifth set was impressive from both men as the Englishman pushed for victory and the Aussie battled for his World Championship life, but it was Aspinalls superior finishing that got him over the line and booked himself a fourth round tie with either Steve West or Devon Petersen.

Cross actually made a bit of a slow start to his 4-0 win over Reyes, winning a low-quality first set, but then he found his rhythm and was superb in battering the Spaniard for three sets.

Reyes played well himself, finishing with a match average of 96, but the world champion was sensational, averaging 110 in the third set and 106,2 in the final set, where he didnt miss a dart at a double and slammed home a 147 checkout.

It was a statement victory from the defending champ who was being written off before a dart was thrown this year, but has still never lost on the Alexandra Palace stage.
