Tiger Woods delighted his huge number of fans around the world on Sunday by winning the Tour Championship at East Lake, Atlanta.

The 14-times major winner had not won a tournament in five years, but finally got his hands on some more silverware at the age of 42, finishing the event 11-under.

It is a remarkable achievement in a career of remarkable achievements by the man born Eldrick Tont Woods, who now heads into the Ryder Cup in fine form.

Woods pocketed $1,620,000 (£1.23m) for winning the Tour Championship, but how much has he earned over his epic career, and how did the win affect his world ranking?

Tiger is now number 13 in the world thanks to his superb performance in Georgia.

That was a jump up from #21 the previous week and a vast improvement from the end of 2017 when he was number 656 on the planet.

At his lowest point, Woods had fallen all the way down to #1,199 in the rankings.

Dustin Johnson currently leads the world rankings ahead of Justin Rose.

What is Tiger Woods net worth?

The last time this was accurately calculated by Forbes in 2016 it was thought to be around $740 million (£563.6m).

With Tigers return to form on the golf course, this is likely to have increased, as even by the middle of July, Forbes reported that he head earned $43.3m (£32.75m).

$42m of this was in endorsements, so now Tiger is back to earning millions on the course as well as off it, his earnings will vastly increase.

It has been reported that Woods has earned $1.5 billion (£1.14bn) since he turned pro in 1996, but less than 10% of that is prize money from golf tournaments.

Woods competes in the Ryder Cup for Team USA this week in France where he will not be paid for his performance.

He was famously asked during the American Express World Championship in 2002, which boasted a winners prize of $1m.

What would be more important for you, to win this week or the Ryder Cup next week?

Here this week, he replied. I can think of a million reasons why.

Perhaps this attitude shows why he has been able to bank so much cash over his career.
