Katie Swan couldnt follow up her first-round Wimbledon heroics against Romanian 29th seed Mihaela Buzarnescu, losing 6-0 6-3 in a one-sided contest.
The British wildcard impressed during a 6-2 6-2 win over world No. 36 Irina-Camelia Begu in her opening match but was dominated from start to finish by Buzarnescu.
It was the pairs debuts at this stage of Wimbledon, with Swan making just her second appearance in the main draw at the All England Club, while Buzarnescu enjoys a fine first run in these parts.
The Romanian showed no lack of familiarity on the grass and regularly pressure the Swan serve, breaking three times on her way to feeding the young Brit a bagel.

An early break followed in the second set, with Swan under the cosh.
With Buzarnescu 4-2 up, Swan – who is part of Andy Murrays management group – broke back to give herself some hope of clawing her way back into the contest.

It proved to be a short stay of execution as the 21-year-old was broken again before Buzarnescu served it out.
Her defeat leaves just three British players in the main singles draws.
British No. 1s Johanna Konta and Kyle Edmund will lead the charge on Thursday along with fellow young hopeful Katie Boulter.
