Condoms will be available at medical facilities for attendees of the 2019 World Scout Jamboree in West Virginia, to comply with guidelines handed down by the World Organization of the Scout Movement.
The guidelines have been in place since the 1990s, according to Snopes, and Scouts BSA, formerly known as the Boys Scouts of America, confirmed to The Daily Caller Tuesday that the 2019 event will adhere to the “existing health requirements.”
“Given that the vast majority of the attendees, adults and youth, male and female, will be from all over the world, the 2019 World Scout Jamboree host countries arranged with WOSM so that the host facility could adhere to the existing health requirements developed to address the needs of international health norms in a manner more aligned with local practices by making condoms available through the medical facilities,” a Scouts BSA spokesperson said in a statement.

According to the existing Health and Safety guidelines for the World Jamboree the host organization must…
… ensure that condoms are readily and easily accessible for all participants and IST [staff] at a number of locations on the site. Heads of Contingent must be informed in advance and made aware of their responsibility in communicating this policy to their Participants, Unit Leaders, Contingent Staff, and IST in an appropriate way.” (See Guideline 7.3 on page 10 of the document.)
The 12-day event will be held for the second time in the United States and will be hosted by the Boy Scouts of America, Scouts Canada and Asociación de Scouts de México.
“These three distinct cultures will join together to host the world Scouting community in a celebration of cultural exchange, mutual understanding, peace, and friendship,” the description of the event read on the organizations website. “Make lifelong friendships and memories with young people from more than 160 national Scout organizations representing more than 200 nations and territories.”
“The theme for the 24th World Scout Jamboree, Unlock a New World, was developed by our youth bid team, known as the Dream Team,” it added. “This theme speaks to the new adventures, cultures, and friendships that will be shared by Scouts from around the world during the event.”
Earlier this month, the Boy Scouts organization announced that for the first time in its 108-year history, it would allow girls to join and changed their name to Scouts BSA.
